Canada has always been a dream destination for a large number of people from India, but lately due to the long processing time taken by the High Commission people started to lose interest. To counter this and reduce the work load of the High Commission the Canadian Government has changed the rules and policies the procedure for which is explained below.

What are skilled workers and professionals?
Skilled workers are people who are selected as permanent residents based on their ability to become economically established in Canada.

Who can apply as skilled workers and professionals?
Skilled workers can apply for permanent residency as per criteria based on their age, education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other criteria that show that they can economically establish themselves in Canada.

Federal skilled worker applications received on or after February 27, 2008 are now assessed for eligibility according to a set of instructions issued by the Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism.
The applicant can apply in the category of a skilled worker if he/she has at least one year of experience in one or more of the occupations mentioned below in the GOL.
